About Me

Hi, thanks for reading my blog! I'm a 20-something biology graduate who's recently picked up photography. This blog is for hosting photos and explaining the stories behind my photography, mostly revolving around traveling and nature.

My Gear:

I originally started in 2015 with a Canon Powershot SX520 HS without much accompanying gear. I took it with me most days while I was going to college.

I can't say I really understood photography until after I re-discovered my step-grandfather's Leica M2 film camera in late 2018 (see my blog post "My Grandpa's Last Roll of Film: the Idaho Falls Bucket Shot"). After picking up the basics of film photography through this camera, plus regularly watching the photography community on YouTube, I gained a greater appreciation for how photography worked, growing into an unexpected passion.

Since Christmas of 2018, I've upgraded to a Canon Rebel T6 with a kit 18-55mm lens. With that, I also acquired a substantial amount of gear, from lens filters and an external flash, to a tripod and a telephoto lens (75-300mm). While I admit that I've become a bit of a gear hog, I do find great value in investing towards these tools that help to bring the pictures I have in my head into fruition.
