Camping at Payson Lakes, Utah

September 11-13, 2019

This past week, the Ogden Forest Service district met with other districts across Utah to camp out at Payson Lakes, near Spanish Fork. Not only did we connect with other people from different districts, but we also worked on the trails in the area that have been overgrown after recovering from a massive forest fire last year.

I was off my photo game the day I brought my camera with me on the job, especially for the landscapes that would've shown the burnt trees that contrasted really well with the fall colors that were already coming in.

Turns out black and white is really good for highlighting texture.

It was a lovely time, but with an elevation of 8 or 9,000 feet, the nights were brutally cold, so much so that it snowed and hailed the first night there. If I had enough layers, I'd have captured some clear night skies over my tent, but that'll have to wait until next time.
