April 2, 2019
This morning, I woke up a bit early and realized I haven't taken any pictures of the home we're actually staying at; I took a shot for my film camera challenge (to be announced once I get back to the states), and likewise with my DSLR while the relatives hang out.
My grandma and her brother also showed me their coconut garden, from which they grow and harvest to sell for $1 a couple. Given how much VND there is for every USD, that's how they make a fine living |
Phuc and I went to eat breakfast (Mì bò, /mee-baw/, similar to phở), with coffee (cà phê) tea (trà) before riding around the more rural outskirts of Cam Ranh, seeing the beautiful Vietnamese countryside.
We passed by some farmers that were chopping up large piles of sweet potatoes, though I wouldn't be able to say why. |
We also saw some farmers watering their fields of flowers; this one noticed me taking his pictures and started joking in Viet, maybe about making sure he doesn't look too ugly. |
We saw a lot of farms with cows (bò) and chickens (gà). |
One farmer passed us by from a bò-drawn carriage. |
On the way back, we crossed a long bridge that offered a higher point over some farms and residences. |
I did always love the image of a Viet farmer working hard on his/her farm in the shadows of trees and mountains. |
After returning home and taking a quick nap, we all went to a local beach off of Cam Ranh Bay to cool off; I got to practice my swimming in the deep-ish water, and got a good look at how far the bay extends too. It reminded me of how much bigger some bodies of water actually are despite being relatively small on a map.
Pay no attention to the naked boys who were running around all over the beach. |
There was a woman who stayed around the beach, selling ready to eat tofu. |
I do like taking family portraits. |
Another fine day in Vietnam; tomorrow, I, Phuc and the son-in-law are gonna go out and take pictures all day (so I've been told.) Can't wait to see the results.
